Hi Mark,

Going back that far in time to get tweets is not going to be possible with
any of the Ushahidi social media tools.

- The twitter search in Ushahidi is real-time.
- The twitter search in SwiftRiver is also real time. It will only pull in
tweets from the moment you set up your “river” with the relevant search
term.
- The new CrisitNet platform will go back in time but only for the tweets
that it has already curated (if I understand it correctly) As such, this
new platform won’t go back as far as 2009.

There are other paid services out there such as those from Gnip (See
http://gnip.com/sources/twitter/historical/) but those can be pricey.
