Hey folks!
We just released another beta version of Ushahidi v3.
A sneak peek into some of the things to expect from this release include:-
New features like
A complete map configuration UI
Searching for messages by sender name
A security fix for the “Rosetta Flash” JSONP attack
Tags are no longer incorrectly referred to as "categories"
The update script now has a non-developer "deploy" option
Have a look at our release notes and blog post announcement for more details on changes in this release.
Take it out for a spin on our demo site, but keep in mind that this is still not quite ready for production yet ( we’re getting closer though).
We’re planning a series of user specific meetups in the coming weeks, focused on UI/UX pain points, as well as toolkit and user documentation. Stay tuned for updates on this.
We also welcome feedback on any topics you would like to discuss.
Grab the code on github, or download it here, then head over to the install instructions.
Set up a development build and follow our developer processes to send in bug reports and submit changes
If you’re not already set up on Phabricator, please head over to the Ushahidi Phabricator page and sign up. Once your account is approved, here’s a guide to get you started.
Alternatively, just head over to the demo site, have a look and submit bug reports/share your thoughts/comments with us.
You can also join our discussions on IRC/Mailing list
This next week, we want to take sometime to give developers a live code walkthrough, to help you understand the structural changes and what to expect when jumping into coding on v3. Take advantage of the time you will have to pose questions to members of the team ;).
Join us on 17th July, 2014 at 6.00p.m EAT | 8.00 a.m PDT | 11.00 a.m EST (See timezone conversion information)
For those who missed last week’s demo and walkthrough, here is a link to the recording.
As always, feedback is greatly appreciated. Do feel free to reach out to any of us incase you have any questions/queries.
