Hey Folks,
We’ve been talking about 3.0 for quite a while, these past few months, and its finally time for us to show you what the team’s been working. We’re rolling out a developer release of Ushahidi v3 (v3.0.0-alpha.1)
Who is this release for?
3.0 isn’t quite ready for production yet, but we’re doing this release as a chance for our community developers to have a look at the code and help us build this product out.For the rest of our community of mappers, we have a demo site up that you can have a look at. Don’t deploy or upgrade just yet ;)

What to Expect?
You should be able to install v3, create and delete posts, as well as view a list of posts that you can drill down to individual pages. There are a lot more UI prototypes around the entire application, for you to see how things would work, but these are powered by fake data (we’re still working out data migration from older versions of Ushahidi)
Some technical details
The V3 frontend is a javascript app built on top of the API. We’ve used a lot of other libraries and tools to get things moving quickly, such as Backbone and Marionette JS, SASS and compass, RequireJS, Grunt, Kohana Media module and Leaflet
We’re also employing a test driven development approach this time around, using PHPUnit and behat for testing as we work progresses. The QA team is working on test plans and test cases, which have already been published on the wiki.

Are you Nairobi based?
Join us for a physical meetup on 6th November, 2013 between 5.30 p.m and 6.45 p.m for a live showcase of v3. We’ll do our best to make it avaialbel for our global community to join in via a Google Hangout, but this is pending. We promise to record it J.
