Hello all,

I know all of us want to see more info activists coming out of Africa
and African programmers who are interested in technology for social
change (based on the reality of what's happening in each country). With
this goal in mind we're creating a new concept for a Barcamp in Africa,
we're calling it the *Barcampathon*.

*The Barcampathon will involve running several Barcamps consecutively in
one week during February in different countries in Africa around the
same concept "Open Source for Social Change".

The idea is to create a global communication strategy so the local
Barcamps capitalize on the results built by the other ones. We will have
to build a real community of Info Activists. Based on this community we
hope to be able to organize the next camp Info Activism camp in Africa.

A quick sketch of what it could possibly look like:

*Day 1*
Launch Barcamp Morocco, share the event online and offline, impacting
widely in the country and around the world, connecting local
programmers with international programmers, sharing skills and topics,
building an African open source community

*Day 2*
Barcamp Mali will be similar, building on the energy from Morocco,
and adapted for the context of Mali, sharing problems/solutions between
Morocco and Mali and adding the Malian programmers to the community.

*Day 3*
Nigeria
....

*Day 5*
last countries.

Wrap up the Barcampathon and share experiences from the different
countries involved - where was well organized (or not), problems
surfaced, where programmers got the better ideas or the built the
strongest community.
