Jim,

QuickNets has several sets of simulated crisis data that you are welcome to use. Volunteers (lead by Humanity Road) were given a scenario (tsunami for RimPac and a cyclone for PacEndeavor) and they generated the incidents in approximately real time. Both are smaller data sets than Haiti, but fairly realistic in content. The overall URL is http://QuickNets.org From there you can access the RimPac or PacEndeavor data sets. Other instances there are less realistic, but you are welcome to use any of them.

If you do find them useful, please let me know.

Hi again,

Thanks Chris and Linda for your suggestions. It's too bad that some form of the Haiti data is not available, as that would have a greater impact than burgers or zombies. I understand the restrictions on personal data however and will need to rethink how to proceed. The app is fairly simple, built with php, javascript, css and html. There is no public repo of it, but I can send you a zip of the folder. Let me know.

Jim

	Hi Jim,

What is your interest in the data — eg. do you need Haitian or earthquake or crisis reports in particular? Perhaps if you want to test your application, would another Ushahidi deployment would be suitable for testing your application?

We want to discourage the use of sensitive crisis data for non-response purposes. (Unfortunately that dataset in particular was circulated a great deal without sanitization.) For product demos and that kind of thing, a more appropriate dataset might be something like the Burgermap — http://www.burgermap.org/api?task=incidents

Or perhaps you could use one of the election maps, or citizen media instances. There is a topical directory on the wiki: https://wiki.ushahidi.com/display/WIKI/Types+of+Maps

PS your tool sounds very interesting, I would love to see it if you get it on a public server. Is the code in a public repo by chance? How does it work?

	regards

		Hi guys,

Still wondering if there is a way to access Haiti data in depersonalized way with the Ushahidi api. Any other thoughts?

			Hi Rob,

I put together a preliminary app during the crisis that allowed any cell phone or pc with internet access to query the reports by category, date or location. It was never put into production, but was an interesting project and I have it installed on my own web site as a demonstration app. If it would not be a big deal, I would appreciate being able to connect it up to some form of the data again.

Please let me know what you think.

				Jim,

Thanks for your email. The haiti.ushahidi.com website was taken offline due to concerns about security and privacy, exposing personal information from what was submitted while the project was active. We may have a limited, bowlderized dataset from these reports containing no personal information; please feel free to contact me off list to discuss that further.

					Hi guys,

Havent been involved lately, but have been receiving errors from the Haiti api for quite some time and finally investigated. Looks like the interface is password protected now. Can this be reopened, is it viable, can I have access? (http://haiti.ushahidi.com/api).
